Public consultation has now been completed for the Draft Climate Action Plans of the four Dublin local authorities – Dublin City Council, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Fingal County Council and South Dublin County Council.
The four Draft Climate Action Plans set out how the local authorities can promote a range of mitigation, adaptation and other climate action measures to help deliver on the national climate obligations and ambitions at the local and community level.
The Draft Plans set out how the Councils will be responsible for enhancing climate resilience, increasing energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions across their own assets, services and infrastructure, to which they are fully accountable for, whilst also demonstrating a broader role of influencing, facilitating and advocating for other sectors, to meet their own climate targets and ambitions.
Public consultation for Dublin City Council’s Draft Plan ran from Friday 15th September to Thursday, 2nd November 2023, while the public consultation period for Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown, Fingal and South Dublin County Councils’ Draft Plans ran from Wednesday, 20th September until Friday, 3rd November 2023.
