Discover the science behind climate change at Climate Change Week with fun, hands-on experiments for all ages.

SDCC is delighted to host Climate Comedy workshops in local schools.  

The Climate Comedy Workshop runs for 90 minutes and is an interactive fun workshop for young people to explore the topic of climate change in a creative and accessible way.  

Using drama games and techniques, we come together as a group and explore ideas and emotions around climate change. Looking at how injecting humor and creativity can help open up these difficult conversations and help us focus on the solutions. 

The workshop cumulates with participants having the opportunity to share their artistic response (poem, sketch, song etc.) with the group.

Join us for an eye-opening online session to uncover the surprising environmental impact of your daily digital habits. Come on a tour of the Tallaght District Heating Scheme, which is the first large-scale district heating network of its kind in Ireland. The scheme operates under Heat Works, Ireland’s first not-for-profit energy utility, fully owned by South Dublin County Council. The scheme makes a significant contribution to reducing carbon emissions in the area, saving almost 1,500 tonnes of CO2 each year and establishing Tallaght as a leader in innovative local climate action.

South Dublin County Council, the Dublin Mountains Partnership and LAWPRO are collaborating for this event as part of Dublin Climate Action Week. 
Experts will talk us through the natural beauty and the ecosystem services provided by the local water catchments up in the Dublin Mountains. Help sample local water quality and learn about the role these water systems play in helping to reduce flood risks downstream in Dublin. 
Meeting at the final LUAS Red Line stop in Tallaght. We will take a free mini-bus up to Cruagh Woods.

This Is Your River Screening and Nature On Our Waterways Photography Exhibition – SDCC Climate Action Week 

SDCC and LAWPRO would like you to join us for a screening of This Is Your River on Wednesday the 13th of May from 6.15pm in Tallaght Library to celebrate Dublin Climate Action Week. 

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided on arrival, and you can stroll through the Nature on our Waterways photography exhibition, before and after the screening, which showcases the natural beauty of South Dublin waterways.

Join SDCC for a special Lunch & Learn: how to repair, amend or jazz up your clothes. 

Loved clothes last - The Sustainable Life School is joined by an experienced seamstress to teach you the basics of clothes repairs. Learn the essential and rewarding skills that will help you make your clothes last longer: thread a needle, mend a tear in a jumper, sew back a button. 

In this interactive session, participants also come away with tips on how to source and donate clothes sustainably, and how to care for garments to make them last longer.

Join South Dublin County Council and local volunteers to build a thriving, green oasis from the ground up! We are getting outdoors as part of Dublin Climate Action Week by preparing the soil for a new Miyawaki-style mini-woodland and we need your energy. 

The work entails laying cardboard over an area, then covering in mulch, to prepare the area for tree planting in the next tree planting season.

We are delighted to announce as part of Bike week 2026, on Saturday 16th May, SDCC Active Travel team and Volunteers from the Dodder Valley cycling will be at the Dodder Valley Park from 12.00pm – 4.00pm. A chance for children and adults with additional physical and intellectual needs to try out a trishaw and Wheelchair bike in a safe environment, volunteers will be there to help on the day. Meeting point would be at the entrance across from the Speaker Connolly car park.
